About GMZ
GMZ Energy was founded based on the scientific discovery made at MIT and Boston College in thermoelectric materials and the conviction of the founders that thermoelectric energy conversion has game changing potential in efficient and environmentally friendly direct conversion between thermal and electrical energy, for cooling and power applications.  The vision of our founders is that thermoelectric energy conversion technology will in the future be widely used in air-conditioning, heat pumping, waste heat recovery, and solar thermal energy conversion.

The company was founded by Professor Gang Chen of MIT and Professor Zhifeng Ren of Boston College, who have extensive experience in thermoelectric material research, and Mr. Mike Clary, then an Executive in Residence with Kleiner Perkins Caulfield and Byers.  The company was incorporated on November 17, 2006 in the State of Delaware.  The company carries out its operations in the state of Massachusetts, and is supported by investments from Kleiner Perkins Caulfield and Byers, and strategic corporate investors.
